Documentation of a day of screenings, conversations and presentations which explore, recover and communicate the history of performance art in London and the UK in the 1970s. The day includes a screening of William Raban’s film 72-82 (a history of art and performance at Acme Gallery, London), followed by a panel discussion with William Raban (Professor of Film at London College of Communication), and special guests; a conversation with Hilary Westlake and David Gale (Lumiere & Son); lectures by Naseem Khan, Anne Bean, and Marcia Farquhar; with a keynote by the historian Carolyn Steedman (Emeritus Professor of History, University of Warwick).
72-82 tells the story of the first ten years of Acme Studios and their ground breaking work providing artists’ housing and studios in London. It also features some of the pioneering exhibitions at the Acme Gallery that was based in Covent Garden from 1976-81. The film comprises visual archive materials brought to life by the voices of the artists involved. Interviewees include: Cosey Fanni Tutti, Jock McFadyen and David Critchley.

This small publication marks the 20th anniversary year of The Arts Catalyst. It celebrates some of the 120 artists’ projects commissioned over those two decades.
Study Boxes contain hand picked selections of DVDs, books and other materials from the LADA Study Room around specific themes. Installed in Festival hubs and other locations, and curated in dialogue with partners, each Study Box can hold between four to ten items and can be used by audiences for a quick browse or a day-long study. After the events the Boxes are returned to the Study Room and listed in this Guide so that users can explore these themes and materials during their visit to the LADA Study Room.
