Don’t Wait Tables

Don’t wait tables – make an act!

Project summary:
This two-day training session is aimed at artists who usually supplement their artist’s income with an unrewarding part-time job. The project is designed to assist these artists in making a short act from which they can earn cash money. This could be a street show, a roving performance or a cabaret act.

Dates, times and location(s):
14 and 15 September 2013 at Soho Theatre Studio, London (exact dates and times tbc)

Application procedure:
Applications should be emailed and composed of:
• a short CV
• a brief artist’s statement about the ideas that inform your practice
• 200 words on why you would like to take part in this project

Supporting materials (images, video, links etc.) are welcome but not essential.

A short list of tables/restaurants you may have waited in the past is not necessary.

Please email your application to [email protected] (cc’d to [email protected]) by Monday 1 July.

The artist:
Longtime Duckie associate artist, Ursula Martinez is a writer, performance artist and cult cabaret diva who has managed to move freely between the commercial sector and the ‘arty’ sector, which has given her a good balance between artistic satisfaction and financial security.

DIY 2020 – Charlie Ashwell: Restless Study

DIY

Restless Study will be a space for people to study which privileges restlessness and distraction over focus and concentration. We will generate, manipulate and circulate objects of study, including text, conversation, image, action, movement, and beyond. We will throw off the shackles of goal-oriented education to reclaim study as a vital, liberatory mode of being in dialogue with others!
