Notes
“Out of Tune bell” (installed by A K Dolven) is a perfect biography of many Others and Otherness.
Borrowing from my personal relationship and experiences with the, church and church bell, I attempt to explore the marginalised representation and interpretation of blackness, race, gender and otherness through the gaze of colonial structures and powers. The performance questions religious constructions of idealism, purity and holiness to contrarily evoke our memories on slavery history, black struggles and human violations by similar authorities powers. The act of self torture under extremely cold weather on the cost while burying the bibles and ringing the bell is call for reflection and meditation. It exploits the emotions and conscience of the audience to reflects on several inhuman conditions and rejects of marginalised individual/ groups.
