PERFORMANCE CRITS: An Evening of Art School Performance

An evening of art school performance re-imagining the art school critique, with contributions from artists and researchers at Central Saint Martins including Mina Alacalioglu, Marc Hulson, Bhawana Jain, Pat Naldi, Owen Parry, Alex Schady, John Seth, Vicky Tang, Mia Taylor, Josh Whitaker, Sandra Zanetti and more.

Performance Crits is part of Performing the Art School, a series of research activities with Central Saint Martins C-School staff, postgraduate researchers and alumni in collaboration with Live Art Development Agency 2025-26. It includes the sharing of practice and research, engaging with LADA’s archive and research collection, and exploring the contexts and infrastructures for supporting the work we do to meet new publics and audiences.

Access Information

Event information:
This is a relaxed event. Fold out chairs will be stacked and available for those who need them. We will be moving round the space in ‘Crit’ fashion. Other seating options will be available including office chairs, a sofa and a bench.

All are welcome to join in a relaxed space and are free to come and go as they please. The audience are encouraged to participate in discussion around the works presented through designated feedback activities, but this is not compulsory. We actively encourage lurking.

Each contributor will set up and take responsibility for their individual presentation as is the case of the art school critique, where artists present their work in the studio, and receive feedback.

The lighting will be fixed with no sudden changes and microphone amplification will be used. There are disposable masks and hand sanitiser available. After the talk there will be an opportunity to socialise.

LADA space:
The building is wheelchair accessible by lift and provides a wheelchair accessible ground-floor bathroom. All bathrooms are gender inclusive. There is no isolated quiet space inside, but there is a small quiet outdoor area. Some of the art on display in the space includes naked bodies. You can find more information and see photos of the space here. Should you have any particular access requirements, please email [email protected] and we will be happy to offer further support.

Content notes:
There will be some medieval fake blood. Please email [email protected] if you would like more information on what to expect.

Please note this event will be recorded.
