The Maternal in Creative Work examines the interrelation between art, creativity and maternal experience, inviting international artists, theorists and cultural workers to discuss their approaches to the central feminist question of the relation between maternity, generation and creativity.
The Guide features fourteen individual artists and two artist collectives working in the mediums of Live Art and performance around the topic of the maternal, who have all set out to make performance and/or Live Art work about their particular maternal experience.
Four Institute boys, Neal, Gabriel, Sid and James, narrate their first ever protests with the help of their parents Lena Šimić and Gary Anderson and four activists x-Chris, Ritchie Hunter, Mel Evans and Ewa Jasiewicz.
