A workshop for artists working with sound and performance using the black diaspora as their centre of navigation
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
‘Sounding In, Sounding Out 2.0’ is a one day workshop encompassing sound, video and performance led by Network 11, a peer group of artists. The session (in conjunction with invited participants), will form a combined sharing and examination of “the space we can’t see” as expressed by artist Lubaina Himid. Under these terms the complex material and scope of the sonic medium in regards to language and the historical conditions of blackness will be highlighted.
At the core of this DIY will be the exploration of sound as an informatics within the African diaspora, a crucial component in uniting global and local experiences.
Applications are invited via the link below. This asks for a CV, links to previous practice, and a short statement on centring blackness in the present.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
Date: Saturday 25 November 2017 (date subject to change)
