It’s about sex. Sex as education. Sex re-education.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
Here’s what we want: Let’s talk about sex, let’s sing about sex. Let’s write about sex. Let’s laugh about sex, let’s cry about sex, let’s dance about sex. We invite artists in their roles as activists, parents, choir leaders, sex workers, teachers aka PEOPLE IN THE WORLD to take part in a collective sex re-education. We want to create tools together to resist the heterosexist, masculinist sex education we receive everyday from people in our families, on our TVs, in our house of commons and in the bank. We want to use our artistic means to produce counter-narratives.
What do you want? We want to build healthier relationships with our own sense of selves.
What do you want? We want to hear ourselves.
What do you want? We want to have better sex.
What do you want?
Through talking, making, eating, closing our eyes, moving our feet, can we find ways of supporting our own life-long sex re-education?
Are you hot-blooded about sexual consent? Concerned about the influence of pornography on perceptions of sex / gender / class / race? Frustrated by the lack of spaces to discuss sex? With these questions as a starting point, tell us why you would like to take part in SEX TALK MTG (Sunrise to Sunset)? We can accept written responses (300 words max) or a short video, or link to online content, via the 'apply' button below. Please do mention any skills, backgrounds or experience you think may be of interest or that you’d like to further explore.
To enable a representative group of people we are keen to ask applicants to express how they currently choose to identify. SEX TALK MTG (Sunrise to Sunset) is open to all ages, all genders, all bodies and artists from all disciplines. However, we will be engaging with sexually explicit material so participants must be 18 years and over. The NT Studio is fully accessible.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
Dates: Mon 23 Oct 2017
Times: 7.38am to 5.50pm
Location: London
Bedfellows is a hot-blooded sex re-education research project led by artists Chloe Cooper, Phoebe Davies and Jenny Moore born from the personal, the political and the professional. It’s about sex. Sex as education. Sex re-education. We're currently investigating sexual identities, desire, consent, and feminist porn and asking whether, as artists trained in performance and visual literacy, we might be able to deconstruct the dominant tropes of the image-heavy sexual landscape we’re living and work in.
If you have questions about this project, please contact [email protected].
This DIY is supported by the National Theatre.
