LADA Screens: Audition Project – Launch Event

Audition Project (World Premiere)
Online from 9 - 22 June 2016
Live Launch Event Thursday 9 June at 7pm

Miss High Leg Kick's ‘Audition Project’ brought together 75 UK based artists onto the Birmingham Hippodrome stage in a snapshot of the performing arts in 2016. Over the course of a single day they learnt and recreated the opening audition scene from the 1985 film 'A Chorus Line'. The process was filmed shot by shot by Richard DeDomenici to match the original film scene – for a Redux film. ‘Audition Project’ explores themes of ambition, creativity and dance, and the challenges faced by artists in a difficult funding environment.

Richard DeDomenici makes work that’s social, joyful, topical and political although rarely simultaneously. Last year DeDomenici adapted his inexplicably popular Redux Project for television as part of the BBC4 event Live From Television Centre.
