Reviews of recent Live Art Development Agency publications

We are delighted to announce two excellent reviews of recent Live Art Development Agency publications by/on Tim Etchells and Ron Athey.
Becci Curtis' review of Tim Etchells' While You Are With Us Here Tonight is on INTERFACE, a-n’s platform for critical writing:
“For those familiar with Tim Etchells’ genre spanning and, to some extent, genre defying work, the unconventional format of his most recent publication will come as no surprise. This does not, however, diminish any delight on encountering the strange flesh of While You Are With Us Here Tonight, as its pages attempt to stitch together an energetic corpus that is otherwise known as Etchells’ artistic practise.”
Arising from research and reflection undertaken during his time as LADA/Tate Research Legacy: Thinker in Residence, While You Are With Us Here Tonight is a poetic and idiosyncratic reflection on questions of legacy, document and archive, drawing on aspects of Etchells’ solo work and on his long-running collaboration with the other members of Forced Entertainment.

Richard Maguire's review of Pleading in the Blood: The Art and Performances of Ron Athey edited by Dominic Johnson is on the Lambda Literary Review:
“While Johnson alludes to Athey’s biography, the performance artist is given space to tell his own childhood which is fitting as both now literary image and visual image are under Athey’s control. The whole book appears a lesson in discipline. It seeks to dispel myth. It wants to get the record straight.”
Pleading in the Blood: The Art and Performances of Ron Athey is the first book dedicated to the iconic performance artist Ron Athey and includes three newly commissioned essays on different aspects of Athey’s work by Adrian Heathfield, Amelia Jones, and Dominic Johnson.
