Everything You Wanted To Know About Live Art But Were Afraid To Ask…… is a day of information and advice about Live Art for graduates and emerging artists.
Live Art is an exciting area of practice offering artists new artistic approaches and creative contexts. But it is also an area of practice without clear signposts or career development paths. Outside educational institutions or other support structures it is often possible for younger artists wanting to develop a professional practice to feel unsure of where to begin.
Everything …. will offer an introduction to the Live Art sector and system, a sense of how things work, practical information about what's on offer and a chance to learn from the experience of more established artists. The day will cover issues ranging from how to approach research and training, how to network, how to make a successful collaboration, how to market and promote your work, how to develop practices within a range of different contexts and sites, how to think about documentation, how to work across platforms and media and how to survive.
Contributors include the artists Lois Weaver, Ansuman Biswas, Joshua Sofaer, Barby Asante, Oreet Ashery, Stacy Makishi, Geraldine Pilgrim, Richard Layzell and Lois Keidan and Daniel Brine (Live Art Development Agency), Manick Govinda (Artsadmin) and Sophie Cameron (New Work Network).
The day will also include an interactive micro performance game especially designed for Everything …. by French Mottershead.
Ticket prices for Everything …have been kept to only £5 (including bag lunch) and are free to New Work Network members.
Places are limited and must be reserved in advance by sending an email to [email protected] or phoning 020 7882 5196
