For this LADA Screens we are showing Hotel Obscura, a documentary about a series of one-to-one performances that took place in a hotel in Austria, produced by Die Fabrikanten.
For the launch event we wll also be showing a one offf screening of Tranny Hotel, a gathering of international transgender performers and their audiences in Liverpool in November 2011. For this event we are very pleased to be joined by Wolfgang Preisinger and Anatol Bogendorfer from Die Fabrikanten, Brian Lobel, a participating artist in Hotel Obscura and co-creator of the Documenting Intimacy project in collaboration with LADA, and Mandy Romero curator of the Tranny Hotel, who was part of Die Fabrikanten’s Exchange Radical Moments Live Art Festival. They will be talking about one-to-one performance and creating work in hotels.

About Hotel Obscura
The setting for the event was a hotel in Vienna run by refugees where guests meet different artists in one-to-one settings. The event asked participants to what extent is someone willing to open themselves up to a stranger and enter into an encounter?
Die Fabrikanten have been working as artists and curators for 27 years and are based in Linz, Austria.

Hotel Obscura is part of a wider project that culminated in hotel-based performance projects in four cities: Athens, Melbourne, Tours and Vienna.
Hotel Obscura is an international cooperation project with European and Australian partners. It is currently being developed and produced by Triage, Erin Milne & Arts House (AUS); Die Fabrikanten (AT), Mezzanine Spectacles, GK Theater, La Folie Kilomètre & La Transplanisphère (FR) & Ohi Pezoume (GR) in Europe.
The aim of the project is to develop a rich program of intercultural and artistic exchanges that investigate live art and interdisciplinary performance art and to form and long-term artistic collaborations and networks for all partners and cities involved.
