This is one of the Live Art Development Agency’s tenth anniversary commissioned artworks exclusive to Unbound.
If one were to distil a considerable sector of Eastern thought to one word it would be N O W, also a significant underlying notion in performance/live-art. If one were to distil Western capitalist doctrine to one word it would be O W N. N O W and O W N have a distinctly uneasy relationship, ultimately N O W making ownership void. Yet, in parallel with struggles underlying live-art, who and what has W O N in the attempt to find a principled way of existing in a material world? Further ways of hanging the work in different orientations open endless possibilities, from the graffitied past of W O Z and Z O W, to simply coming down to a name
N O M.
Ultimately, this present is about all matter being event in time.
About Tenth anniversary commissioned artworks
To mark its tenth year in 1999 the Agency commissioned ten artists to create anniversary presents around variations on the number ten in terms of editions or prices. The presents range from mass produced, cheap and cheerful merchandise, to limited edition artworks.
