LADA marks its 15th anniversary in 2014. We are celebrating with a series of initiatives across the year, including the “15 Minutes With…” podcasts.
There have been seismic shifts across the landscape of Live Art since LADA was founded in 1999 – from an unprecedented institutional embrace to a resurgence of artist-led initiatives, from a proliferation of performance books to a heightened online presence, from an explosion of practice-based research to the formation of new strategies of creative resistance, to cite but a few.
“15 Minutes With…” is a series of short dialogues with some of the exceptional artists and thinkers that LADA has had the pleasure of working with over the last 15 years. Using the lens of the Agency and the occasion of our 15th Anniversary, the dialogues will reflect on how critical some of these shifts have been, not only to Live Art, but to the wider culture of the UK.

#1 Lois Keidan and Lois Weaver on platforms and support structures for young artists
Lois Weaver lectures in Contemporary Performance at Queen Mary University of London and is an independent performance artist, director, and activist. Lois Keidan is the co-founder and Director of the Live Art Development Agency.

Drag fabulist Dickie Beau is a queer clown whose work is informed by a range of traditions, from low culture to high art. Gavin Butt is a Professor in the Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London.

#4 Stacy Makishi and Joshua Sofaer discuss Professional Development and Live Art
Stacy Makishi is a transplant from Hawaii. Her present body of work is interdisciplinary in scope and includes live art, film, installation and visual art. Joshua Sofaer is an artist who is centrally concerned with modes of collaboration and participation.

French & Mottershead is UK artist duo Rebecca French and Andrew Mottershead. Their work explores and reveals the social dynamics and narratives inherent within public and private spaces. Artist and film-makers Nina Pope and Karen Guthrie produce ambitious, innovative and challenging projects via Somewhere, their multi-disciplinary, non-profit creative organisation, as well as Pope & Guthrie.

Jen Harvie is Professor of Contemporary Theatre and Performance at Queen Mary, University of London, UK. She is co-editor of the Theatre& series, author of Staging the UK (2005), co-author of The Routledge Companion to Theatre and Performance (2006) and co-editor of Making Contemporary Theatre (2009).
