LADA Screens #2: Amy Sharrocks – Launch Event

Amy Sharrocks' SWIM Screening event

Amy Sharrocks is a live artist, sculptor and film-maker who invites people to come on journeys in which their own experience, communication and expression are a vital part. Undertaking these journeys with a sense of humour, joy and risk, Amy creates work that is rich, unpredictable and different every time.

SWIM was one of a series of works looking at people and our relationship with water in an urban setting. Taking place on July 12, 2007 it was an open invitation, all access swim across London from Tooting Bec Lido to Hampstead Heath Ponds.

The evening features a screening of SWIM, and an illustrated presentation by Amy Sharrocks about other performance-based water works, drawing on materials held in LADA’s Study Room.

Signed copies of Sharrocks' SWIM and Museum of Water publications will be available for sale on the night

SWIM is the second film to be shown in the new LADA Screens series of online screenings of seminal performance documentation, works to camera, short videos, films and archival footage. It will be available to view for free on the LADA Screens video channel for two weeks between 17 and 31 Aug 2015.

This event is part of a series of projects this August in which Amy Sharrocks is stepping off dry land, including Drift in the London Aquatics Centre as part of The Yard’s Walkie Talkie series
