Help us restock the Study Room!

LADA’s Study Room is a well loved resource, internationally. It is the home of our Live Art Research Collection that contains over 8,000 pieces of visual and performance culture materials and is free to access Tuesday through Friday at the Garrett Centre.

In the past year, LADA’s team has been working to ensure that all the materials in the collection are present for you to engage with, safely stored for continued use, and properly accessible via our Catalogue.

As with any freely accessible resource open for over 20 years some bits have gone missing and some need replacement.

That’s where you come in.

We need your help to raise £3k to restock the Live Art Research Collection and start collecting new resources.

£3k will allow us to:

  • Re-invest in texts and objects currently missing or damaged (goal: £1,600)
  • AND allow us to begin a new period of collection from 2026 (goal: £1,400)

We paused all new collections of resources in 2024. In April 2026, we will invite two resident artists to collect as part of our new Collections Development Policy, with the budget for new collection items fundraised through your support.

How can you support the Restock Campaign?

  • Donate through Charities Aid Foundation
A single donation – anything from £5 to £500 – will replace lost or stolen items in our collection.
A recurring donation – monthly or quarterly – of just £4 means that 2 new resources can be added to the collection, at minimum. With Gift Aid added, your gift compounds and we can continue to collect rare, unique and specialist items.
  • Text to donate
Text RESTOCK to 70085 to set up a £4 recurring donation.
(Add Gift Aid and LADA receives an additional 25% monthly meaning your monthly gift of £4 becomes £60, allowing 2+ books to be purchased.)
  • Donate a book from your collection
If you’re the author/editor of a missing or damaged resource listed above, or collector who has a copy we need, be in touch with [email protected] to give the gift of a physical book!

Donate!

All gifts received as part of the Restock Campaign (February – April 2026) go directly to renew our resources and keep the Study Room accessible for all.

If you already give as part of our regular main campaign we thank you for your generosity and encourage you to give to the Restock Campaign, if you are able. All gifts received through our main campaign are split across all areas of the organisation including fundraising costs.

But what is missing?!

A very interesting list, really. It includes a couple of particularly expensive books such as the hardcover edition of Amanda Lepore’s memoir, as well as Live Art classics.

Support our Restock Campaign (if you can!) so we can repurchase the missing items – we’ll be adding special book plate stickers to all resources we restock, to honour your gifts.

A sticker for restocked books.
