Performance Art Faction: Call Out for Essay Commission

]performance s p a c e [ have placed a call out for direct responses in the form of written essays that engage with Performance Art Faction.

Performance Art Faction (PAF) is a 9 month long, holistic project consisting of research labs, performances, talks, residencies & exhibitions. PAF explores the intersections of contemporary performance art, politics & society with the aim of reawakening the innate political potential of our bodies.

As part of Performance Art Faction ]ps[ will create a limited edition box set (30/30) & complimentary interactive web archive, showcasing the artists and activities from the programme. The publication will visually reference historical propaganda poster art. Each poster will incorporate performance documentation photographed by Marco Berardi and include (on the reverse) commissioned essays responding to performance art curated as part of PAF.

]performance s p a c e [  are seeking written work that engages with the following aspects of PAF.

]ps[ Occupations: Artists, academics and art critics are invited to attend & respond to the upcoming ]ps[ artists in residence occupations with Victoria Gray & Fabiola Paz and Maria José Ajorna & Arianna Ferrari from September to November 2014. Two Essays – 1000 words each.

Soap Box Sessions (SBS): Artists, academics and art critics are invited to attend & respond to the upcoming SBS series of curated events examining contemporary performance art with artists Hugh O’Donnell, Kris Grey and Amber Hawk Swanson. Two Essays – 1000 words each.

prAxis – THEORY & ACTION: Artists, academics and art critics are invited to attend & respond to prAxis – a live & web based research laboratory at the intersections of visual-performance, critical research & political action. The event takes place between The Live Art Development Agency's Study Room & ]ps[ studio space across 12 hours (midday to midnight). One Essay – 1000 words.

The PAF limited edition Box Set & Interactive Web archive is co-published by Live Art UK and ]performance s p a c e [ with support from Arts Council England.
