Description

Centered on a cesarean section performed on a man during a Chinatown KTV birthday party, this book documents Lanyun Huang (Finch)’s spatial intervention, a work that investigates taboo, female eroticism, and symbolic violence through the lenses of bodily politics, gender, and spatial displacement. This work is performed by Iresa Cho, Jiaoyang, Lil Soap, Le Cai (Bella), Richard Dedomenici, Shujing Huang, and Shuyi Wang. Presented at You Got Room Project.

Lanyun Huang (Finch) is a London-based queer artist. She holds an MA from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. As Lanyun, she creates conceptually driven, body-based performances that often take place in everyday or disruptive settings, emphasizing temporarily and sensory intervention through the body. As Finch, she makes theatrical works rooted in queer nightlife, collective energy, and folk mythology. Her practice moves live art, performance, video, installation and curation, engaging with identity, structures of desire, improvisation, and the shifting dynamics betweenperformer and audience, grounded in a critical reflection on social structures and the politics of visibility.
