Please join us on Friday 7 March at 2pm for a workshop with Clod Ensemble that will ignite your imagination and transform the way you think about archives.
Clod Ensemble will present their recent experience of creating an archive which gathers and shares their distinctive interdisciplinary approach to devising performance. Attendees will be encouraged to take a creative approach to archiving their own artistic practice through developing skills and understanding around documenting and organising work, as well as using other archives and collections to inspire new work.
The workshop will cover:
- What is an archive and who is it for
- Organising your physical and digital materials
- Amplifying performers’ voices in the archive
- Archiving as a creative act
- Sharing learning with a new generation
- Using archives and collections to inspire new work
- Ways to create your own archive and document your own work
The workshop will be run by Suzy Willson, Artistic Director of Clod Ensemble, and Lotte Allan, who has been working on the Clod Ensemble archive since 2021.
Clod Ensemble
Clod Ensemble is a performance company founded in 1995 by Suzy Willson (Director/Choreographer) and Paul Clark (Composer). The combination of movement and music is at the heart of all of their work. They create live performances at different scales, in different locations and for different kinds of venues – from traditional concert halls and theatres to visual arts galleries, public spaces and community centres. Clod Ensemble’s work has been presented at London venues including Sadler’s Wells, Tate Modern, the Royal Academy, the Southbank Centre, the British Academy and the V&A Museum. Their work has also been staged at The Lowry in Salford, the Wales Millenium Centre, the Public Theatre of New York, the Venice Architecture Biennale, in theatres across Europe and Asia, and in village halls across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
