PROGRAMME NOTES: Case studies for locating experimental theatre revised and expanded second edition (2013) is a unique resource, exploring the ways in which contemporary theatre is changing through new relationships between mainstream venues and experimental practices and furthering dialogues and collaborations across the spectrum of contemporary theatre in the UK.

First published in 2007, this fully expanded and updated edition traces the key shifts in the theatre and performance landscape in the last 6 years and includes a new essay by Matt Fenton (new Director of Contact, Manchester) and four new case studies by some of the most significant names in contemporary theatre: Vicky Featherstone (new Artistic Director of the Royal Court, former Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Scotland); Andy Field and Deborah Pearson (co-directors of Forest Fringe);  David Jubb and David Micklem (Artistic Directors of Battersea Arts Centre); and Marina Abramović (Performance Artist), Amanda Coogan (Performance Artist), and Alex Poots (Director of Manchester International Festival).
