LADA is introducing a regular programme of Live Art Mixers, quarterly gatherings for artists and arts workers to collect and connect with each other and the LADA team.
We are partnering with Marlborough Productions and Raze Collective for the first of our Mixers. In light of increasing transphobia in public discourse in the UK and the recent Supreme Court ruling, this Mixer is specifically intended for queer and trans creatives.
There will be a station for collective craft, banner and placard making – an invitation to busy our hands whilst being together.
And it’s a craft potluck! Please bring any crafting materials you have – paints, markers, cardboard, fabric. LADA, Marlborough and Raze will also bring a supply.
What gets made can live at LADA, be taken home or journey later in the week to London Trans+ Pride (Saturday 26 July).
Who is the Mixer for?
Queer and/or trans artists, producers, curators, writers or any other practitioners working within the multiplicities of Live Art. You don’t need to have worked with or visited LADA before.
Will there be food and drink?
There will be hot and cold food, and a donation bar.
Do you offer travel bursaries?
If you are coming from Brighton and want to travel with the Marlborough team, please email [email protected]. There is a small budget for travel bursaries for both London and Brighton based folk for whom transport costs or using public transport is a barrier. Please email [email protected] to claim one of these bursaries.
Marlborough Productions
Marlborough Productions are a nationally and internationally recognised producer of queer-led, intersectional performance, parties, heritage and radical community gatherings. They advance equality and social justice by producing innovative new work from extraordinary artists, reclaiming spaces to create and share culture and developing our communities. Marlborough Productions began their journey in the Marlborough Pub & Theatre in Brighton. In 2020, they made the decision to leave and move onto wider stages and bigger projects.
Raze Collective
Raze Collective is a charity established to support, develop and nurture queer performance in the UK. Through their queer-led, artist & community driven programme they curate innovative events & performance opportunities for queer creatives. Raze was formed by grassroots performers, producers and audience members in the face of the closure of LGBTQIA+ venues. They are called Raze as the organisation was established in response to those queer spaces being razed.
