Please join us for a performance lecture by Swiss based Brazilian artist Ivy Monteiro who will talk about the research focus of their most recent work Trinta y Dois Igual a 5.
In Trinta y Dois Igual a 5, Ivy is interested in queer spirituality and Afro Futurism as tools to connect their practice to ancestrology and the metaphysical construction of safe spaces. Enabling and questioning what and where those safe spaces – for queer souls as much as queer bodies – might exist.
Ivy Monteiro is undertaking a two week research residency at LADA in July 2019 as part of LADA’s collaboration with Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council on a three-year initiative to raise the profile of Swiss Live Art in the UK and contribute to the development of exchanges and collaborations between artists and promoters in the UK and Switzerland.
Look out for more events on Swiss Live Art this October at LADA and at Fierce Festival in Birmingham
