A celebration to launch Joshua Sofaer: Performance | Objects | Participation ed. by Roberta Mock and Mary Paterson.
To mark the publication of Joshua Sofaer: Performance | Objects | Participation, an evening of performance considering the role books play in an increasingly virtual world, particularly in relation to contemporary performance practice.
Go By The Book will take place in the events space at Foyles book shop in Charing Cross Road, the former site of the Fine Art Studios at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, a space that has been fundamental to the relationship between performance and fine art. The evening will feature performances by Daniel Somerville, Esther Sofaer, Joshua Sofaer, Mary Paterson, Roberta Mock, Robin Deacon, and Stacy Makishi. Performances begin at 7.15pm.
With a mixture of intellect, humour, and striking design, Joshua Sofaer: Performance | Objects | Participation analyses the artist’s oeuvre in the contexts of liveness, visual art and participatory practices.
Edited by Roberta Mock and Mary Paterson Intellect & Live Art Development Agency’s Intellect Live series, the book features specially commissioned photographs by Hugo Glendinning and contributions by Nadia Abdelaziz, Yuan-Liang An, Stuart Andrews, Maddy Costa, Robin Deacon, Konstantina Georgelou, Simon Gould, Sarah Harvey, Yu-Chin Hsiao, Lois Keidan, Yu-Ying Kung, Carl Lavery, Stacy Makishi, Roberta Mock, Mary Paterson, Sibylle Peters, Joanna Sofaer, and Daniel Somerville.
Go By The Book is supported by Arts Council England.
