‘This painting was inspired by an old bright flag torn by the Arizona desert wind into ribbons so there was barely anything left of it. I remember the clear blue of the sky behind their movement in the light and the stunning orange of the desert. The painting has lived with me a long time and always connects me to the expansive feeling of freedom in movement – especially in travelling to make work, learn, and explore.’
