The Live Art Development Agency is committed to supporting the development of new critical discourses and debates around Live Art practices and the nature and role of art in the 21st century.
Ego was a series of public debates on the intersection of art and science in London’s Old Operating Theatre with distinguished artists and scientists; the Marked symposium at Arnolfini explored the influence of Gina Pane’s radical body art on today’s practitioners; whilst Reading Performance Art From Then till Now for the Whitechapel’s Short History of Performance season debated issues around the documentation and representation of performance beyond the 'live'.
In tamden with these more high profile public debates, the Agency has also instigated smaller scale and more intimate discursive initiatives such as the artist led Small Talk series and the Thinker in Residence initiative in which we invites artist to consider aspects of our work and discuss new ways of approaching identified challenges.
The Agency also acts as host to artist led discussion groups - often taking place in the Study Room - and one-off events such as the 1001 nights cast discussion led by Barbara Campbell.
