Joining the Dots was a series of national professional development initiatives for emergent artists that took throughout 2006/07 and built on previous Agency projects and partnerships. The programme was generously supported by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
The aims of Joining the Dots were to support the artistic and professional development of recent graduates and younger artists; further partnerships between artists, promoters and the Higher Education sector; address the resources about emergent practices available to UK promoters, funders and scholars; and contribute to the development of specialised Live Art professional development models and opportunities.
The Joining the Dots programme was composed of the following four strands:
1. The documentation of ten national open submission platforms of work by recent graduates and emergent artists, and the creation and dissemination of a Joining the Dots Platform dvd, Selected Works from a Live Art Development Agency National Documentation project 2006-2007.
2. The roll out of DIY artist-to-artist training projects across the UK in partnership with key promoters. Following an extensive national call for proposals in January 2007, 16 eclectic, unusual and challenging DIY projects were selected to take place across the UK between May and September 2007. 3. The production of three Everything You Wanted to Know About Live Art information and advice days across the UK in collaboration with Queen of Mary, University of London, Fierce and New Work Yorkshire.
4. East End Collaborations in partnership with Queen Mary University - a London based open submissions platform and mentoring scheme for recent graduates/emergent artists.
